With The First Pick

The Dallas Cowboys answered the biggest question facing them this offseason, finally coming to their senses and signing Dak Prescott to a long-term deal. Dallas will give $160 million to Prescott over the course of a four-year contract — which has a stipulation ensuring he can not be franchise-tagged as well as a no-trade clause. That may be seen as a lofty price given he is coming off a serious ankle injury suffered in Week 5 of last season but, given they would have paid him $38 million on the tag this year, it is one well worth paying to avoid losing the face of the franchise. However, retaining the services of Prescott is just the first step in what is an extremely important offseason for a team that has struggled to consistently contend in the NFC even with Prescott’s prowess under center.
