Fantasizing about “what could be” is nothing new for mock drafts. We envision situations where trades are made, and sleepers and steals are discovered, and teams upgrade their roster at multiple positions, offering renewed hope for the upcoming season. But what about the flip side? In this Dallas Cowboys 7-round mock draft we look at the evil side of “what if.” Things are just as likely to go wrong as they are to go right. That’s the nature of the beast. And if the Dallas Cowboys put themselves into an ugly situation leading up to the draft, they could really get burned on draft day if they enter desperate to fill holes. Self-created holes. So let’ set the stage. In this offseason scenario the Dallas Mavericks have conducted a handful of cost-cutting moves. And in response to those moves, they’ve only added a handful of bargain Band-Aids in free agency.
