Saints Wire

Is it too early to look at the 2022 NFL draft? Probably, but the annual event has really become a 12-month news cycle, so repackage this as a watch list of college prospects to look out for in the fall if it helps. The New Orleans Saints weren’t able to address all of their positional needs in the 2021 draft, and while they have some promising options on the roster already, their loaded class of 2022 free agents might help outline next offseason’s strategy. So that sets the stage for a quick, three-round mock draft considering which rookies might be available for the Saints in 2022. New Orleans will have at least four picks in the first three rounds (receiving a compensatory third rounder following Terry Fontenot’s departure for the Atlanta Falcons general manager opening), and they could get another if Trey Hendrickson’s loss returns a third rounder, though Over the Cap currently forecasts a fourth rounder for 2020’s Saints sacks leader.
