Some might say the Steelers narrowed their draft decision when they spent a team-record $85 million on outside players during the first week of free agency. But in reality, general manager Kevin Colbert opened up all kinds of possibilities for when the Steelers make the 20th overall selection in next month’s draft. Colbert signed offensive linemen James Daniels and Mason Cole, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, inside linebacker Myles Jack, cornerback Levi Wallace and return specialist Gunner Olszewski. He also re-signed offensive lineman Chukwuma Okorafor and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon. The heaviest losses came at receiver with JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Washington and Ray-Ray McCloud moving on to other teams. The development leaves the Steelers with only Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool and squarely puts receiver among the first-round possibilities.
