Draftwire

We focused on getting the offensive line and secondary in this seven-round mock draft for the Washington Commanders. The 2023 NFL draft is an opportunity for the Commanders to put the finishing touches on a very good roster and compete for the playoffs in a talented NFC East. In the first round, the Commanders score a huge bargain when Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon falls to pick No. 16. Moving to the second round, Washington gets another huge value when the best off-ball linebacker in the draft lasts until the No. 47 pick. The one downside to this mock is the last of help at offensive tackle. Warren McClendon is a solid prospect but probably isn’t ready to play as a rookie. The best value of the mock is Pitt running back Israel Abanikanda, who is physically gifted and a great natural runner.
