Draft season is upon us. The Patriots entered the month of April with 73 players on their 90-man roster. The team has 11 draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft and it’s expected that they’ll fill out the majority of their roster with this year’s rookie class. The Patriots have some clear needs after signing six external free agents. Honestly, the team is in a position where they should draft the best player available regardless of position. The goal for Bill Belichick should be to add more blue-chip prospects to his roster. In my first Patriots mock draft of the offseason, I focused on adding players with high upside who fit positions of need. These prospects either have connections to the Patriots already or fit the prototypical mold when it comes to what Belichick looks for in each position.
