There’s been a lot of discussion about the Las Vegas Raiders possibly trading up to select their quarterback of the future in the 2024 NFL Draft. They already have two potential starting quarterbacks on the roster — Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell — but neither has shown the ability to be much more than a middling player. It’s easy to make the case that general manager Tom Telesco and coach Antonio Pierce should aggressively pursue a quarterback with more upside. But that might not be realistic. The Chicago Bears will almost certainly draft Caleb Williams (USC) at No. 1. The Washington Commanders are set to take a quarterback at No. 2, likely either Drake Maye (North Carolina) or Jayden Daniels (LSU). The same goes for the New England Patriots at No. 3. Even if the Commanders or Patriots make a surprise move to trade down, it’d be tough to outbid the Minnesota Vikings, who possess picks Nos. 11 and 23 and are also desperate to find a quarterback. The New York Giants at No. 6 and the Denver Broncos at No. 12 are also potential threats to take a quarterback before the Raiders at No. 13.
