The 2024 NFL Scouting Combine is getting underway in Indianapolis, where general managers, coaches and staff will get a chance to see some of the NFL draft’s top prospects in action and inside the meeting room. Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears are on the clock. For the second year in a row, Chicago has the first overall pick, courtesy of the Carolina Panthers in a trade of the top selection last year (where they also got DJ Moore, Darnell Wright, Tyrique Stevenson and a 2025 second rounder). The Panthers selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. Although hindsight tells us that this is one of the greatest trades in NFL history, Poles’ tenure as Bears GM rides on making the right decision this year. Will he trade the top pick in favor of keeping Justin Fields or stay put and select a rookie, most likely Caleb Williams?
