College basketball's showcase this month has nothing on the March Madness of this year's NFL offseason. And we fully expect April, and the lead up to this year's NFL draft, to be just as head spinning. In recent weeks, a frenzied free-agent period saw big NFL names change teams at a rather furious rate. High-profile players such as Derrick Henry, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, and Keenan Allen will don new uniforms in 2024. Other seismic news saw long-time NFL standouts Jason Kelce and Aaron Donald announce their retirements. All of these moves impact how teams will approach the 2024 Draft, held in Detroit (April 25–26). So too will the results of the Indy Combine in February, where NFL front offices took to evaluating great athletes doing activities that had, at best, a tenuous connection to playing actual football. By the numbers, 321 players were invited to participate in the NFL Combine. The upcoming draft has 257 draft slots to fill, yet only 32 of these players will hear their names called by Commissioner Roger Goodell on Day 1, when the first round of the 2024 draft takes place.
