By consistently making the playoffs over the years the Steelers are well-versed at drafting near the bottom of the first round. They own the No. 24 overall selection Thursday night, and in recent years, selecting later in the first round has produced a mixed bag of results. Over the past decade, it’s been boom or bust for the Steelers. They selected Cam Heyward at No. 31 overall in 2011, David DeCastro at No. 24 in 2021 and T.J. Watt at No. 30 in 2017. All three players have been All-Pros in recent years and have been foundational pieces for the Steelers.
