It’s always tough coming off a spring break vacation. But what better way to get the juices going again than with a mock draft? ’Tis the season. When we endeavored to produce a fun and fulfilling, seven-round mock two weeks ago, the Carolina Panthers had not yet landed veteran pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney. So edge rusher was not viewed as a priority in Mock 2.0. As of this writing, the Panthers still need a cornerback. That could change with one phone call from Dan Morgan to Stephon Gilmore’s agent. But even if the Panthers reunite Gilmore with Clowney, his high school and college teammate, the sense here is that they’ll still draft a corner — just maybe not as high.
